Benchmarks for Successful Events If you are like many non-profits you probably have a special event that you do every year. When was the last time you took a hard look at the "why" you are putting on this event? ? ? ? ? ? Are you fulfilling a specific and current need? Is this the best use of resources and time? What's the ROI? Are expenses 25% or less of gross income? Have you made it a branding opportunity for the organization? Are you using it to cultivate both new and established donors? Many events are driven by volunteers or history ("because we've always done it this way") instead of being driven by strategies that include an event. For an event to be successful you need to: - think strategically during every phase of the process
- always be planning for the future
- be willing to make changes to continue its growth and make an impact on your organization
